Expose This Bitch

Betsy DeVos with her fingers in the Financial Aid kitty....

James Runcie, the former chief operating officer of Federal Student Aid, sent a letter of resignation this week that said he could no longer in good conscience perform his job if he was being asked to serve as a political pawn.
At issue was DeVos’ insistence that he testify in front of the House oversight committee about improper student aid payments this week.
“I have been consistently on record and clear about not testifying at the upcoming hearing on improper payments,” Runcie explained in his resignation letter.
In addition to his unwillingness to testify this week, Runcie also alleged that DeVos’ education department was working to “divert critical resources” from the financial aid office.
I want to smack someone.

Friday Varmint Bloggging - Bunniez!

In the herb garden - there were 6 - now there are 3 - hoping that Mama BunBun didn't just take off on them.  They are really little, can barely walk/hop - we have caught a couple of them and tried to put them back in the nest, but they keep leaving.  Hence the straw---if it's been moved, and they are still there, it means she has not abandoned the nest.

Why? Just Why?

Why haven't we arrested him yet?  Why hasn't his wife divorced him?  Why isn't there some way to get rid of this ass clown?

U.S. President Donald Trump told his Philippine counterpart that Washington has sent two nuclear submarines to waters off the Korean peninsula, the New York Times said, comments likely to raise questions about his handling of sensitive information.
The transcript of the call was first reported by the Intercept.
Trump has said “a major, major conflict” with North Korea is possible because of its nuclear and missile programs and that all options are on the table but that he wants to resolve the crisis diplomatically.
North Korea has vowed to develop a missile mounted with a nuclear warhead that can strike the mainland United States, saying the program is necessary to counter U.S. aggression.
Trump told Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte Washington had “a lot of firepower over there”, according to the New York Times, which quoted a transcript of an April 29 call between the two.

All You Loofah-Faced Shitgibbons - Beware!

Daylin Leach may be on the move!

State Sen. Daylin Leach, an outspoken liberal who once called President Trump a “fascist, loofah-faced, s-gibbon” is considering challenging Republican Rep. Patrick Meehan next year, potentially setting up a clash of two well-known political figures as Democrats try to capitalize on the left’s anti-Trump fervor.
Leach said he had begun talking to voters and key political figures in both Pennsylvania and Washington, and has commissioned a poll to feel out his chances in the Seventh Congressional District, centered on Delaware County.
While the moderate district leans slightly Republican, Trump lost it last year, giving Democrats hope that they can use the roiling energy on the left against Meehan.

He can still keep his state senator's seat if he loses, so the only thing he has to lose is....money.  Daylin has had a lot of support - especially since the Shitgibbon comment - so here's to hoping he can get financing and not have to lose his proverbial shirt.

Entitle This.

I so wish they would stop calling them "entitlements" - I am sure most people with disabilities who receive SSDI or SNAP feel really "entitled"....  (she said, sarcastically)

Fucking Asshole.

  • Where the entitlement cuts are made: From programs including SNAP (food stamps), CHIP (Children's Health Insurance Program), and SSDI (Disability Insurance). The budget proposal will also assume that Trump can sign into law the American Health Care Act — the Obamacare repeal and replace bill that passed the House and is now being considered by the Senate. That bill makes substantial cuts to Medicaid.

Unless You Mean the Horse's Ass?

The president may not be a child, but I wouldn't compare him to an animal, either.....that's insulting the animal....

The Trump presidency is the discovery that what you thought was a man in a bear suit is just a bear. Suddenly the fact that he wouldn’t play by the rules makes total sense. It wasn’t that he refused to, that he was playing a long game. It was that he was a wild animal who eats fish and climbs trees, and English words were totally unintelligible to him. In retrospect, you should have suspected that after he just straight-up ate a guy. But at the time everyone cheered. It was good TV. Also, he was your bear.

The New Teflon Don

Really, everything rolls off this guy's back.

I bet the memo from Comey will, too....

President Trump asked the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, to shut down the federal investigation into Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael T. Flynn, in an Oval Office meeting in February, according to a memo Mr. Comey wrote shortly after the meeting.
“I hope you can let this go,” the president told Mr. Comey, according to the memo.
The documentation of Mr. Trump’s request is the clearest evidence that the president has tried to directly influence the Justice Department and F.B.I. investigation into links between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia. Late Tuesday, Representative Jason Chaffetz, the Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee, demanded that the F.B.I. turn over all “memoranda, notes, summaries and recordings” of discussions between Mr. Trump and Mr. Comey.
Such documents, Mr. Chaffetz wrote, would “raise questions as to whether the president attempted to influence or impede” the F.B.I.

Seriously, the shit has been piling higher and deeper for over four months now.   What are TPTB waiting for?

Oh, wait, he IS TPTB.

I'm Kinda Impressed....

Bug has turned into a bit of a political animal.

My son is messaging me now about the Trump order about removing the separation between church and state.  That's my son.  Who has AUTISM.  Who should be freaking out about the Medicaid bill. But as an anthro/archaeology major, looks that way first.

Oh and now he is talking about Trump and Kim Jong Un, Trump wanting to start a war, etc. Of course, he has a personal investment there.  He's 24, prime age for the draft.  I try not to remind him of that.  I mean, I want the ability to cart him off to Canada if I have to.  Or Italy, if Hub ever gets that dual citizenship.....

And before you ask, YES, they take autistic people into the military.  Especially ones who are capable of going to grad school and doing an internship in DC, where he had to get around.  Shit, just using the Metro these days is good training in maneuvers....  but I digress....

I am just thrilled he was reading internet news....who would have thought?

Yes, They Want You to Die.

I mean, think about it.  Less aggravation for them.  Fewer people complaining.

My middle school students and I just finished reading “The Diary of Anne Frank.” When we closed the book, there were some tears shed. I passed around the tissues, and we discussed how we felt. Many of them expressed anger that some people could hold others’ lives so cheaply as the Nazis did Anne and her family. Are House Republicans guilty of a similar crime? They aren’t rounding anyone up to send to death camps, but they’re apparently content to let many of us just die.
The pundits tell me I have nothing to worry about. The bill won’t pass the Senate, they say. And even if it does, the President would be breaking every campaign promise he ever made, if he signs it.

Yeah, this is the R's idea of a death camp.  No wonder that so many of my gay HiV+ friends are scared to death as well.   And all the seniors who can't afford their meds.   No one wants to be sentenced to death.

Love to all of you.

Sic 'Em.

If you didn't know who the freaks were who voted Yes on the AHCA, here you go.

Of these 217 Republicans, more than two dozen sit in districts where Donald Trump won less than 50 percent of the vote. In other words, they’re already representing at-risk seats, and they just made themselves a whole lot more vulnerable. So how do we target these Republicans specifically?

May 30th Can't Come Soon Enough....

One Nation.  Underwood.

Netflix announced Monday that season five of creepy political thriller “House of Cards” will drop May 30, which happens to be perfect timing for Washington denizens looking to binge-watch, since both chambers of Congress will be out of session for Memorial Day recess.

Fuck Congress.

Gimme Frank.

Who Knew?

David Frum knew....

Last week, in an interview with Reuters, Trump reflected on his first 100 days by admitting the job was harder than he imagined. “I loved my previous life. I had so many things going,” he said. “This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier.” Trump’s admission shows how little he knew about the office before taking on its tremendous responsibilities. This statement provoked the ire of David Frum, former George W. Bush speechwriter and senior editor of The Atlantic. Frum has been a target of scorn in the Republican Party for putting country above party and openly criticizing the president.
Frum unleashed a tweetstorm on Friday, mocking Trump’s naiveté and showing the threat it poses to both America and the globe.

There are many, many tweets, most of which are excellent.  Here's a sample - then, go have a look....

Dumb Fcuk in Chief

I can't even.

"People don't realize, you know, the Civil War, if you think about it, why? People don't ask that question, but why was there the Civil War? Why could that one not have been worked out?"
The comments were made after a lengthy discussion about former President Andrew Jackson, who Trump compared himself to because of Jackson's populist views and campaigning.
"I mean, had Andrew Jackson been a little later, you wouldn't have had the Civil War," Trump said regarding the slave-owning president. "He was a very tough person, but he had a big heart. He was really angry that he saw what was happening with regard to the Civil War. He said there's no reason for this."
SNL ought to be good again this week.
